Magic Screen

I always wanted to build a magic screen that looked like a blank white image that could be revealed by looking through a polarizer

This appears in my classroom during our polarization topic and often involves at least one good Rick Roll :)

The only real step to create one of these is to remove the final polarized filter from the front of an old monitor. The ease at which this is done really depends on the monitor that you start with. I've made a couple of these and sometimes the adhesive never really comes off (even with lots of goo gone and scrubbing) and sometimes it just peels right off (like the example in the video here -->)

Once it's made, you just need to connect it to a computer to send an image, gif, or looping video for students to "discover" with the right polarization orientation.
